Operation LAMBis a program of the Knights of Columbus in
North Carolina. The program contributes to agencies that
assist people with intellectual disabilities. For 39 years,
our High Point council has provided funds to High Point area
agencies. We have distributed in excess of $400,000 to
agencies that help special needs citizens of the High Point
area.
Our initial funding mechanism was volunteers standing at
retail locations, soliciting donations and handing out
Tootsie Rolls as a way of thanking the donor for their
kindness. In 2005, we established a 5K race (Knights’ Run
for Disabilities) to make additional funds available. This
race has continued annually.
With the help of our participants, sponsors, retail
establishments, and our volunteers, we have been able to
contribute funds to many High Point area agencies. Some of
the area organizations that have received grants in the past
are: the ARC of High Point, High Point Special Olympics,
Ambucs, Companions on a Journey, and Lifespan. Also, support
has been provided to the Exceptional Children Life Skills
and Autism programs in Guilford County Schools in the High
Point area.
The LAMB Foundation name is derived as an acronym of the
biblical quotation:
“Whatsoever you do to the Least Among My Brothers, that you
do unto me.” Matthew: 25:40
Thanks to all who support the
